In the last couple of weeks Sharon has opened a class for those young students who cannot read or write very well. These are students who need extra attention in class, and who struggle in English as they can’t yet read and write in Indonesian. We don’t have time to give them that attention during class, and neither do their teachers at school.
Early childhood education is not free in Indonesia, so there is a great disparity in reading and writing ability when children arrive at school. Those who struggle are often left behind.
Now they have time in a small class with lots of attention, and are rapidly improving. All our students are special and we are so happy that they are getting the help they need.
