Final memories from Jakarta.

By XU Binbin, Voluntourist at IHF Jakarta center

Today was the last day that we have to teach the students here, who are all incredibly friendly, kind and smart.  The big smiles on the children’s faces make me feel happy and take me back to my childhood. As a result, I can free myself from the bustle of life here at the center by being involved with children. My experience here has bought me far away from my common life back home in China and have let me develop a different outlook.

We went swimming with IHF staff and volunteers from the center and it was a wonderful day. The swimming pool is in a rich area of the city that has good public transport, good community welfare and high standard of living.

You can’t compare this rich area to the near-by people living in the bad living conditions.

These children from poor families cannot have the same good education that wealthier children can. However, IHF gives them a chance at this through their free class. It’s a very meaningful and valuable program to be a part of. There is an enormous gap between the rich and the poor. Good education is a fundamental method to help these children to get out of the trouble. So that’s what we are doing now!
