Volunteering in Medan

It has been a week since I arrived in Medan and I’m gradually getting used to life here. It’s lucky to make friends with our super nice director Louise and friendly local volunteers and teach all the cute students here. Although I teach only two to three hours per day, I can feel the passion of kids for learning and want to be closer with them. In our spare time, we play games together and talk about culture of this city. I do learn a lot from these kind and active kids.

learning1It is the national holiday of Muslim these days, so we do not have many classes. However, it became a good chance for me to experience traditional Muslin culture and enjoy local food. We visited several kids’ home during the holiday and learned to behave like local people. Students’ families were very kind and we could also communicate well though there are some slight language problems. It is an interesting and unusual experience.
