This week has unofficially been origami week in Jakarta center! It started out with Rahma, Ayu, Arnau and myself making some decorations for the center from a wonderful origami book donated by one of our volunteers. We had a ball making animals, flowers, boxes and more.
We also had origami workshops with some of the classes. Here are the grade 5s with their fish! We hung them from the ceiling to make a floating aquarium above our living room. The house is looking very bright and creative at the moment.
The children like origami and are impressed with the results, but it’s also great for their concentration. Some students struggle to focus on a task for more than a few minutes, and this has a very negative impact on their ability to learn in class. Origami gives them a chance to practice focusing on something fun!
